Ronda
Ronda was - quite simply - lovely.
Antonio said that it is his and his wife's dream to eventually retire to Ronda.
I can completely understand this wish. It is an incredibly beautiful corner of this wide world.
In fact it is one of the most beautiful places I've seen - and I've seen many beautiful places on this planet.
How wonderful and pleasant to be able to retire to such a breathtakingly gorgeous place.
Buena suerte Antonio – I hope that can happen for you!
(REALLY hope google translation got that right and I have wished him good luck.)
The slide show captures a little bit more of Ronda, but the next couple of pages will highlight the town much better.
Cultural Discovery: Jamón ibérico
As was common, this cultural discovery was edible - taking place in the La Casa del Jamon - aka House of Ham!
Jamón ibérico - also known as "Iberian ham", is a type of cured ham very popular in Spain. According to Spain's Denominación de Origen rules on food products, the jamón ibérico may be made from black Iberian pigs, or cross-bred pigs as long as they are at least 75% ibérico.
The fellow slicing it has won awards on his carving skills! (They take their pork seriously in Spain.)
Did I like it? Well, to be truthful I felt like I ought to have liked it, given how exceedingly expensive it is per 100 grams.
But, alas, all I could say was that it was 'okay'.
Perhaps another acquired taste?
No worries. As Antonio said, "It is not mandatory to like it."
In my favour - I try everything!
